You can't really use "Manure" - I guess you meant compost.

I use 1/3 turface, 1/3 akadama and 1/3 grit. This has no organic material at all and needs watering frequently - but has no problem dealing with the fairly high rainfall we have here.

Pretty much depends on how humid the climate is where you are...
