The amount of lux is dependant upon the light output in lumens of the lamp and the floor area of the room. A 5 foot fluorescent lamp ( 5000 lumens ) used in a room measuring 4metres x 5 metres will give a about 200 lux. The lighting in a normal living room is about 100 lux. An office about 500 lux, daylight is in the thousands of lux depending upon the cloud cover
