I'm so excited! I just joined the club in my area and it's actually a living, breathing club that does stuff! The
Columbus Bonsai Society
If you haven't heard, I recently moved from Cleveburg, O-hi-O to Columbus. The Clevo club is not what it used to be, although I was never a member when it was what it used to be, so all I know is it ain't all that. (I make sense sometimes) The club is just so lack-luster and unorganized and plain BORING!
I saw the Columbus show a few years back and it was much nicer than cleveburg as a whole (although a few individuals in the clevo club have outstanding collections)
But, the
Columbus club is actually happening. The even just got a website,
http://www.columbusbonsai.org, although there's nothing there yet. I plan on helping to make it something.
I went there for my first meeting and walked in and said "where do I sign up and what are my dues?" They were pleased to have someone eager to pay! they began the meeting with introductions around the room, which I think is a good idea.
I also donated a somewhat beat-up A.palmatum "bloodgood," for the club to do with as they saw fit. Instead of raffle or auctioning it, they gave it to a young boy who just joined. He's about 12 and was really excited for his new tree. heart-warming!
Please, help me google-bomb the new website if you can!
