I don't worry much about lux. For most of us, 2-4 4 foot fluorescent tubes as close as possible to the trees does a nice job. Note that lux is a function of distance from the light source. Thus, the most powerful light you can buy "up on the ceiling" may not deliver as many (?) lux to the plant as a fourescent up close and personal.

Don't bother with "grow" lights, unless you are growing flowers or fruit. The noonday sun type fluorescents promote small leaves and close internodes. Cheaper, too!
