Re: When to start fertilizing?

You can start with some bone meal right away. It's very good for developing roots. Organic fertilizer could be applied almost straight away because it takes a couple of weeks to kick in. I would hold off on inorganic or chemical fertilizers for 2 weeks to one month after repotting, depending on how quickly the tree seems to recover.

Some folks let the first flush of growth in spring push out and harden off before fertilizing. It really depends on what stage your tree is at, and whether you want lots of growth (=more coarse) or more controlled growth.

Regards,

Matt
