I second that. My first winter I didn't use any artificial lighting and my 3 tropical trees did ....ok. Well that is of course except that damn serissa but that's another story. Last winter I got an indoor greenhouse and added some fluorescent grow lights... WOW what a difference. This year I added a second indoor greenhouse and just 3 weeks ago I upgraded one of the greenhouses with a compact high output fluorescent system... Again WOW!! Probably next month I will buy another compact high output setup for the other greenhouse, because since adding it, I am getting growth rates on my ficus that are almost as high as during the summer outside. I'll try to take a pic or 3 tonight of the new setup and post it up in another thread...
BTW 16hrs/day does it for me.
