I went to the Blue Oak Nursery yesterday. Al certinaly has it right. This place is like heaven to bonsai folks. Brad showed us everything in the nursery just like he showed Al. Brad has added more inventory including many collected 100 yr. old grape vines. The Blue Oak Nursery is now one of the largest bonsai nurserys in the state. Brad has installed a large covered awning with seats for over 200 people for demonstrations and workshops. He has scheduled all of the Modesto Bonsai Club meetings to be held in this new facility. The Modesto Bonsai Club schedule through the next year includes demonstrators such as Ted Matson, Ben Oki, John Thompson, Cheryl Manning, Jim Gremel Johnny Uchidia and George Fugita. David Nguy will be demonstrating next weekend. Brad would like to host bonsai club nursery tours and will have his lovely picnic grounds open for barbeques for the club members. Bonsai clubs will have access to his meeting area for demonstrations or workshops. Brad has built a revoving table for the demo area that is about 3' X 3' which will help everyone to be see the work being done. I am the program chair for my club and I will be scheduling a visit during the next few months for the club membership. The Modesto Bonsai Club's show is in April so that weekend would be ideal for anyone to visit the Blue Oak Nursery and take in the club show at the same time.
