However, I always keep that plastic sheeting incident in that back of my mind because I want to try it on a bonsai scale sometime.

Speaking of different environments for cypress, the ancient ones that line the rivers in South Texas are among my favorite trees. The effect of hundreds of years of flash floods gives these cypress a much different look than the ones I see in the swamps further east.
