I like where you're going with it. Have only one suggestion--lose the statues
and keep the lantern. "Less is more" applies to Japanese gardens as well as bonsai. Too much "Orientialia" in this setting is distracting.
Locate the statues at other sites in the yard, out of the main composition of trees. I think the less busy look will also focus more attention on your bonsai.
