I tend to agree with Matt, but I am usually hesitant to condem a piece of material out of hand. Never the less Matt is probably correct. Unless there are some real outstanding elements that don't show up on the photo, this tree is in all probability not going to be much more than a learning experience, and that experience could very well be one of abandonment.

When we set out to learn bonsai there are two annoying axioms we all have had to deal with: Killing trees is an occassional outcome of our impatience and inexperience,--- and--- we are going to wast time on material that has no future measurable in less than decades, if there is a future at all.
