Chamaecyparis / False Cypress overwintering
I just got a small Chamaecyparis / False Cypress given to me and was wondering how I should proceed with overwintering it.
It is a young plant approximately 10" high and appears to be in good condition. I immediately repotted as it was in a small starter pot and was just beginning to be rootbound.
I need advice on how to proceed from here. Normally I would plant it in a bed I have set up in my backyard to let it start to grow and thicken up. I know from reading up on them that they normally need to be overwintered (I am in zone 5b) but am worried about how to do this in midwinter ..
My other plants were mulched into my backyard several months ago. I do have an unheated garage (no windows) or a corner of my basement I could use.
Any advice you could offer?
Thanks
Duane
