To Carl & Andy again,
I was fully expecting a totally different answer to that which I received from each of you...
I was expecting something along the lines of...
If either the Mona Lisa or the Temptation of St. Anthony were to be exhibited in a judged show, you can bet your bottom dollar they would be shown as Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, or Dali's Temptation of St. Anthony and not the Mona Lisa and Temptation of St. Anthony, owned by Joe Beard, UK.
Now, plainly, the same sort of thing is not likely to happen in bonsai. With bonsai, each time one changes hands, the new owner (either directly or via hired help) has to maintain the tree. This can either be just simply maintaining the tree as is, or altering it somehow. This would lead to perhaps 5 or more names being placed on the name card as the 'artist' for the tree. Obviously silly.
So, I suppose in a roundabout was this tends to reinforce Andy's view that the tree should be the subject of the judging, and not the artist.
Regards,
Chris.
