JST, your tree needs a cold or at least cool rest. Maples will not live inside for a prolonged time (years, that is). You may get lucky for a year or two but without the natural rest they require you will not be happy. I think Treebay was hopeing you could but the tree up near an outside wall away from the heat source, then use styrofoam or other material to insulate it from the house, that way it can get cool. It does not have to get below 32F but it should get down to the low 40's.....hopefully someone else can give you another idea
