OK this is a topic I have some knowledge about... Serissa Foetida are wonderful trees (to some). They react to anything...any change what so ever, in the same way.. they drop their leaves. If you just received this tree, be prepared for this event. My Serissa drops it's leaves when:
1-I bring it outside for the season (spring)
2-I bring it inside for the season (fall)
3-Slighty overwater
4- Slighty underwater
5- If I'm responsible for the sun not coming out for a couple of days it.... you get the idea

There is a group of us who belong to the IHSFC......better known as the I Hate Serissa Fan Club, so the bottom line is, you may have done something wrong, or the tree may be in distress or it may be just trying to show you who is in charge....it IS the tree!
