And that may be all it is. Maybe the tree is just
too difficult to make it work right. Maybe the history of the tree is enough to make people ignore the fact that it is not really suitable for bonsai. I certainly would never try to turn a southern magnolia into a bonsai. Maybe Ginkgo is the same way.
