dr. bonsai

i am just after recieving a serissa seroides for Christmas. i have always liked to look at bonsai trees but unfortunatly i have never owned one. i know nothing about this tree not even how old it is. it looks as if it has been trained it has plenty of branches and leaves but i have noticed a couple of leaves turning brown, i had to travel for one hour in a car to get the bonsai home so could it be that? or is it dying i was told to mist water over it once a day and to immerse it just over the pot in water once a week and to feed it every two weeks. But i don't know if this was the right advice. And i don't know how to feed it.

i have read a lot of information on the net but it doesn't give a certain page to a certain tree(not that i could find) and i just don't want to kill the tree before i read a book. so could you give me a few basic pointers on how to look after my wonderful tree before its too late!
