Display stands

This year was my first year in a Bonsai Exposition or club. One major thing that I found lacking with our club's display was the lack of proper display stands; to say nothing about the general lack of display attractiveness. True, our club is fairly new, 9 years old, but I felt that if we were going to show our trees, we should put our best foot forward, so to speak. Anyway, I'm out to change that between now and next year. -MORE-

I thought we might be able to purchase display stands at the Exposition from the vendors the night before, but there were no stands for sale. Since then I have done a casual search for stands, and found them to be generally out of my price range. A friend of mine, who is a woodcraftsman / artist said that he wnted to try to make a couple, so he took a couple of my pots and viewed a tree or two that were destined for display someday and made a couple of simple stands.

I wanted to get the forum members' opinions on these stands. Do they have any merit? What about his leg designs? He knows nothing about bonsai. The first ones he ever viewed seriously were mine. Which at best are mediocre.

The first one is made of walnut. Personally, I like the leg design on this one.
