I agree that dogs are a product of their masters. However, some dogs' temperaments do make them more prone, or easier to train, to bite. You very rarely see a St. Bernard trained as a police patrol K9 because of their natural "easy, happy go lucky, never met a stranger" attitude. They do, however, make good drug or cadaver dogs. Of course, there are exceptions to this, as in anything else. Pits were bred for fighting. Their posture, build and temperament reflect this breeding. A well-bred pit will be gentle unless trained to be otherwise, but a poorly bred pit will be more subject to its breed's temperament to fight. For what it's worth, I am much more cautious around a strange chihuaha than I am around any other breed...including a pit. These small dogs have a serious nervous tendancy, and will quickly bite out of fear. Just my lil' ole opinion...
