Regarding William's poignant and heartbreaking story, I know of another story from Russia that has a very happy ending.
I know a couple from California that were unable to have their own children. They went to Russia several years ago to adopt a child. They found a little girl in an orphanage, and after weeks of rigimarole were able to bring her home. What a beautiful, bright child she is. All involved are very, very happy. The kicker to this story is that the child and the adoptive mother bear such a resemblance to each other, that no one would ever guess the circumstances.
Both these stories make me remember something I try to keep in mind:
"To get more than you give, you must give more than you get".
