Huh? grafting ficus, recommendations?

i recently purchased a ficus "too little" that is in need of some branching, and a root placement wouldn't hurt either. i have never attempted a graft of any sort on any type of tree and would like to hear recommendations as to what might work best for me with this tree. i read a thread grafting how to by colin lewis and have a nice seedling of the same variety that i could use with that technique to create the root i need (advice?) but am more curious about how to graft a branch. also, when should i attempt the graft? any helpful links and/or advice much appreciated.
