TUKWILA -- The state Department of Agriculture will host an open house about the citrus long-horned beetle quarantine from 6-8 p.m. today at Showalter Middle School, 4628 S. 144th St.
Three of the non-native, invasive beetles were captured at the Bonsai Northwest nursery in Tukwila last August. A fourth beetle was seen escaping from a hole in a tree.
State agriculture workers found a total of eight exit holes in a shipment of 369 maple trees from Korea, which could mean that up to five beetles got away.
