Wiring Time?

Just went back to "Bonsai Today" Issue 78 and the major article on wiring. It advises doing wiring starting the beginning of October for most species, both conifers and deciduous.

Anybody agree or disagree? I have alot of material now, a fair amount of it ready for initial styling. Somehow I had imagined I should wait for Spring to start on it. This will be much better because Spring is so busy with potting, repotting and transplanting.

I'm wondering also whether it would be OK to get Walter's advice on my best trees, even though non of them are bonsai yet, just good material ready for initial styling. Well, I guess all I risk if not is a scolding; I haven't heard of anybody being taken out in the parking lot and shot yet for sending an inappropriate photo in for Walter's advice.

I haven't tried to wire anything for 5 years, since I left California. Hope it's like riding a bike: once learned, never forgotten.
