Hi,

I would be tempted to do an exploratory dig, - but the longer you leave it the more the roots are going to become entwined with those of the larger tree seen in the background and the less likely it will be that you can remove and keep alive.

The roots of this big one will always starve the juniper of essential
nutrients - so try and get it out into a ex-large pot and settled in before winter - where you can start feeding and developing next season.

Interesting twists and turns on the trunk !
