Hey, this is a really great thread.

My other hobby other than bonsai is aquaria, like many other bonsai enthusiasts apparently! I thought that was a really neat thing to find out.

I'm 31 and I've been keeping fish since I was 10, so I've been in the aquatic hobby as long as some of you have been in the bonsai hobby (only two years in bonsai for me so far). Professionally, part of my job deals with about 3 million dollars in tropical fish and exotics over a region of several states.

At home I currently have a small salt water reef tank set up, but honestly I've been considering taking a break from fish for a while and going even more toward my bonsai. That VHO flourescent lighting I have in the hood I built over my aquarium is looking very tempting for my indoor bonsai growing area for putting my tropicals in when the snow comes, hahaha.

Every couple years I take about a year break from having an aquarium set up at home, but now that I have bonsai as new lifestyle/addiction/obsession I may take a longer break from fish.
