Actually a few might, I still have a month of stratifying in the fridge on about 100 jap maple seeds, and I picked 3 out that had sprouted in the fridge about 3 days ago. 1 is doing well, i think the other 2 are rotting, not sure how long they had been in there since popping. So which ever way you decide to stratify, keep an eye on them and check every few days after about 2 months, because if they sprout and remain in the cold, they wont even see their first set of leaves. Happens all the time.
