A little while ago I rescued an old gas lift computer chair off a neighbour who had thrown it out in the rubbish, because it had a torn seat and a broken back. I unscrewed the bracket from under the seat and removed the seat and bolted on a reconstituted sandstone paving stone (400 x 400mm approx 15 x 15 in.). Now I have a large all weather robust turntable that rotates effortlessly and has a gas lift so I can adjust the height as I work. I have had over 60kg on the turntable and it was fine, and it sure beats walking in circles around a large tree!
My work table is a small steel frame desk with a new larger treated timber top. Tree display benches are a simple timber planks on concrete blocks although I am considering adding large square timber posts with a square stone slab on top as pillars for single trees. Oh yeah, I also plan to have remvable shade sails in place by summer as it can get oppressively hot and dry down here. Hope this helps gcraft.
