Some of you may remember this tree from a thread last year. I aquired it about three years ago now. It was a sucker from a large (but unfortunately half dead) Elm that had to make eay for a gas pipeline.
I initiated the air layer in April this year and today was the day to seperate the air layer from the old roots. I use a pair of ratchet loppers to do the job as i find that that gives me a nice clean cut.
