Thanks Kevin. The seeds were soaked in warm water for 24 hours then placed on a wet paper towel inside a plastic bag in the fridge for 6 weeks.

I fully agree with the fresh seed theory, however no local seed for the varieties normally associated with bonsai are available.
Does anyone have a seed source that is reliable?
