I've never seen that article before. It also jogged my memory that the book "The Japanese Art of Miniature Trees and Landscapes" by Yuji Yoshimura and Giovanna M. Halford is very helpful indeed with lots of Maple information. I'd love to get my grubby paws on a copy of "Japanese Maples" by J. D. Vertrees, too but am finding it quite difficult to locate....
