Hortriot, Autumn before last, I gathered a number of Persimmon fruits which had fallen to the ground. I extracted the seeds and put them into normal bonsai soil in 2 or 3 available growboxes. I then overwintered them with the rest of my trees. In the Spring, nearly all of them sprouted and all have been growing radidly since, some of them in pots and growboxes, some in my growbeds. I do not know whether the exposure to cold was necessary or not; I merely report what worked for me. I did notice that there was considerable variation in when they germinated. I didn't notice much difference in the conditions they lived in. Just normal variability, I guess.

They are real nice and accept severe root pruning very well.

The specific species I am working with is D. virginiana. I can only guess as to how easy or difficult it is to do what I did with other, related Persimmons. I am quite delighted with mine.
