Thanks for the advice from all, I repotted a few days ago and the tree seems to be taking well so far. When i recieved it less than a week ago, it was completely dormant. just a day or two after repotting, about half the buds have begun to swell, some starting to come out. It took forever to comb out the roots, it was totally packed into the mud it was planted in before. It looks much better.
Unfortunately i don't have any pics, might get a digital cam soon though. Probably just as well, i'm not completely satisfied with the current pot, but it's the best choice now to encourage proper growth.
