Urb,
If the soil is as bad as you make it sound you must repot and change it. Mud and bonsai don't mix!

The fact that the soil is so bad may be a clue that the bonsai has been in that particular pot for some time , which is a benefit to you in that you know that it is well established Bonsai. _Lets hope for the best,right!

Changing soil will be a great help to you in its future cultivation because knowing the root situation and having it in your own personal soil mix will make it so much easier to take care of in the coming growing season.
