The rocks are (and have always been) there to hide reverse taper at the base. The rock by itself is to carry out the illusion of rocky ground (rocks on both sides of the trunk only is not normally going to happen "conveniently" in nature without others in the area, so there you go. I will be treating the rocks to create a more grayish appearance so they won't be so pronounced. When the reverse taper is gone (which has diminished significantly) I will probably remove the rocks. As far as the glaze, some oil and cleaning will give it a little darker appearance, but I like a subdued glaze with the white pine (after all it is the "Queen" of the pines). Just my opinion.

Are you mad at me for getting rid of the Mister T pot? I think you got some mileage out of that!!!
