Back Bud On Azalea
I collected a large azalea from a neighbors large (yes, I HAD permission....!) and cut it back brutally to basically a trunk with what I hope will be three large branches eventually.
In short, I did it back in the fall, and I have exactly zero growth on it, just bare bark. The tree is still alive, as demonstrated by scraping a little bark, you have green cambium underneath. I live in Los Angeles, and my maples are just starting to break bud...
Does anyone have any idea whether this tree is likely to back bud and give me some growth...or should I just find something else for the pot!
