Here is the "finished" tree. I anticipate developing the canopy out to approximately the size it was originally. The difference is that the structure that supports it will be interesting and pleasing, and should look good even in the absence of flowers.
(It had gotten pretty dark when this last photo was taken so the background has been painted back in!)
