Being new to Bonsai and not knowing the growth pattern for the limbs and leaves of this tree I'm not sure what the problem is.

1. Is this a normal reaction to the repot and trim or something else?
2. Should I change the soil since I have since acquired some lava rock and read Bonsaial1's soil preparation?
3. Just wait and see what happens in the next couple weeks?

I only live about an hour from bonsaial1 and ripsgreentree so you know the weather for the past couple weeks. Do you have maples that are advancing faster than this one? The trees still at the nursery are also not yet budding.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
