Foot,

Put out a personal ad in your paper for any other enthusiasts. Some of our local papers run free ads. Put up notes on bulletin boards etc....... best way to go is to find others in your community that bonsai. If you can make local connections that is your best opportunity to learn what you need in your zone. Trees, hardiness, storage, soil, collection, you name it. I connected with one person that was an enthusiast, we shared info, went collecting, learned as we went, found others.....started our own club. Perhaps you are more rural....but it may help.

Make friends with the nursery people anyhow. They will connect you with some good stock. Order stuff through them, and if they know their stuff, they will help you learn. My local nurseryman loves his work, and is so willing to share his knowledge, I am so lucky this way. He also lets us have our meetings at his nursery.

And keep up with the members here, ask questions, share pic....read read read. BonsaiTalk has its share of knowledge as well.

Good luck.

Paul

Ron, if I remember correctly, he has a Juniper procumbens 'nana'.
