F-n-M: I was being flip with my response to your delima and I apologize. I am not really familiar with fauna in your area. Do you have any type low growing, gnarled shrubs? Almost anything that is used for shrubry can be a potensai. The most insignificient weather beaten, cliff hanging, trampled, hard wood plant can become a bonsai. I looked at pictures of the hill side above the Battery and I would bet there a number of plants growing there that would be good subjects for bonsais.
