Re: Forum Member Introductions

Hey-
My name is Peter and I've been "thinking" about bonsai for a long time. I have a few things in pre-form (several scrounged small cedars that sprouted in the yard, a cotoneaster nursery sale reject that has potential for semi-cascade style, and for the holidays, my kids gave me a juniper.) I've bought/perused in Border's enough books to be dangerous, but just need a giant push to get going (Yeah, tomorrow seems like a good enough time-another resolution!)
I only registered here yesterday and I think this forum is great. From my lurking I see that everyone seems helpful without being condescending. I had a question about mineral deposits on pots and found some great advice in a thread called "Bargain Bonsai." I was trying to use vinegar to dissolve them, but it wasn't working. Someone had suggested using pumice stone (I was afraid that it would scrape the pot) I found at Home Depot a sanding sponge (medium and fine grit); it worked like a charm! (only a buck-fifty! zowee!)
I hope to post again, but will always be lurking.
Thanks,
PG
