Matt, thanks for the vitual and the suggestion. I think ultimately one should aim for something along these lines. For my taste the problem now is that the branches are too thin and immature looking. For this reason I would prefer to let the tree fill out as in Rene's virtual. In 5-10 years one can easily thin the foilage to something like you have suggested.

With regard to your suggestion about using the lower branch, the present upper part of the trunk is the previous lower branch. A year or so ago I decided to shorten the tree. This is one of the reasons the upper branch stucture is so thin. Hank
