Well, here's a stab at it.
The kanji I think is "DO", meaning "road" as in hokkaido, it also has some synonyms: journey, teaching.
So I think there is a road from the tree to the mountain, maybe not necessarily the tree growing in the mountains.
Anyway, I really like the pine on the left. This far to the left, I don't know. I liked Andy's idea of elevating the mountain a bit, but I will leave it down like a distant mountain.
