Eric,
The lower part of the trunk beneath the thin branches is bland and looks like it was one buried. The really interesting part of the trunk starts just below the wimpy branches. i suggest you collect it, replant it in your yard and layer the trunk at that point. As for the top, I would cut off all branches apart from the heavy on on the right, carve the wounds to make them look rotten and then use the new shoots that will inevitably appear to make a cool shohin.
