One way or the other

Here are a couple ideas for you. I can't see the full on front of the trunk green trunk on the right, so that may be an option.

The rootage will probably help determine the best possible course. Sometimes there are more than one layer of roots in pots like this, so check that out when you repot or carefully poking around with a chopstick.

BTW, this looks to be a Southern Indica Azalea, not a Satsuki Azalea.
