I think it was supposed to be "The Banzai!" but something was lost in translation, and it became "The Bonzai" and then "The Bonsai"

DATELINE OCT 24th

RALEIGH -- A State Fair employee was killed this morning and a teenage girl injured in an accident on the Bonzai ride.
About 10:55 a.m., an attendant on the dual-pendulum ride operated by Amusements of America, slipped on the platform in front of one of the ride cars while it was in full swing. He was thrown 30 feet over the neighboring Starship 2002 ride and landed near a pizza stall, state agriculture officials said.

In Saratoga, NY, it was "The Bonzai"

Bonzai
The Bonzai is a spectacular thrill ride with maximum visual and physical appeal. Riders sit in one of two colorful cars at the end of arms attached to a centerpiece. A pendulum motion takes them up to an apex, and then rockets them back down to earth face first, next bringing them swinging back up the other side of the arc, fighting against the tremendous G-force they attained on their downward sweep. Not for the weak of heart, this is a true thrill-seekers ride

There is a ride called the "Bonsai Bomber" circulating through the County Fair circuit:

"Oh, my legs feel really weird," Kazala said after getting off the Bonsai Bomber, a hammerlike contraption that swung 360 degrees... "I'm gonna puke."
