A Question About Foliage Pads
Hi all,
It seems to me that most bonsai foliage pads have all their foliage on top of the branch. In fact, there are often little twigs curving up from the branch and the foliage sits on top of that. So not only is it on top of the branch, but it's about a half inch above the branch proper.
Now, I have never seen this in nature. The reason is that the branches in nature are heavy enough to weigh them down and the leaves droop over for the most part.
Does anyone have any advice on how to achieve this effect? I really don't like the whole lawn on my branch look. The only thing I've been able to come up with is to periodically wire the branches straight, thus lowering the foliage. But this happens to make your branch longer than desired.
Thanks.
Mittar
