Mallsai is a term used to express a mass produced bonsai, generally of very low quality, that is often sold in a Mall (a shopping centre) in the USA and other countries and therefore the term mallsai is a pun on Mall and bonsai. It can therefore include any bonai that is like this and the bonsai/mallsai therefore does not have to have rocks glued on the top of the soil, although they often do.
