It may be that both the nursery and you are right. There are several named varieties of chinese juniper. The blue point juniper is the common name for one cultivar. This looks like a procumbens juniper to me. In any case, you can find some basic care info at

I think this is probably the procumbens juniper
Juniperus prucumbens 'nana', simply because it is the most common. Dwarf Green Mound Juniper, Japanese or Chinese Garden Juniper.
In any case they need similar care.
