I'm not familiar with fukien tea, but you might try defoliating a part of tree, a branch or two, and see if the (mature) leaves become any smaller. If they do, you can do this to the rest of the tree, but as I'm not familar with the species, it is safer to defoliate the tree in smaller sections rather than the whole tree at once.
