I think Matt's right. Don't cut of the left trunk just yet. This could turn out to be a very nice double trunk literati. I've included a picture from Bonsai Europe magazine (I'm sure they have copyright but this is just for the example, tree is styled and owned by Terry Foster) that shows what I mean.
If you don't like it, you can always cut the trunk later.
