It was Jim Smith and Jim Vanlandinghams idea to turn it a little to the left and bend it on the side. Jim Smith said that when you have a hollowed out trunk like that it is better to turn it a little and add some mystery. At a show the people can always look to the side and see what is in it.
About laying it on its side that was to erase the reverse taper. The other option would be to add rocks to the base but that would only make people think that I am trying to hide reverse taper.
About turning the foliage in reverse that was just an idea from Jim Vanlandingham and its a strong possibilty it will be more like Jims virtual.
